4. February 2024From 1993 on I started travelling...
... and I began my travels as part of:
Diving vacations: Indonesia, Philippines), Greece (Crete, Corfu), Egypt
Europe: Ireland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain/Canary Islands
Offroad: Oman, Kyrgyzstan
Africa: Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Egypt, Algeria, Cape Verde
Expeditions: Argentina/Antarctica, Spitsbergen/Arctic
... and a few more countries.
Unfortunately, I haven't really captured any impressions of the flights on camera in that time.
But what I do remember:
With LTU on the way to Namibia through a thunderstorm - including lightning strike, sinking and "lights out" for a few seconds
12-14 hour flights with Garuda Indonesia FRA - CGK and return (in Economy)
Flight SVO - FRU in a Tupolev from Aeroflot

Flying in COVID times
Since I became a Miles&More mileage collector after my flight to Argentina, I had only just managed to achieve Silver status through flight segments in 2019.
Since there were double status miles during COVID, my plan was to reach Gold status. So I started flying in Business Class and unfortunately I didn't have a lot great experiences. The airlines saved wherever they could, in LH Business Class you could have a wine and sparkling vine tasting during the flight, because instead of a sufficient quantity of one brand, it was always a mix of several or what was still in stock - or not enough had been loaded.
And who got the frustration of the Business passengers?
Exactly: the flight attendants, as they are at the front line. And as frustrated as they may have been, too - they always tried to do a great job and got little thanks for it.
This led to my decision to give them something back in the form of a nice treat.
